“This is the tenth year we have put this event together and with last year having been canceled in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, we are confident that it will be a record-setting year,” said Jennifer Holcomb, president of the chamber. “People seem to love the Fall event when oyster season begins. And for those who do not like roasted oysters, we have chili and Brunswick stew. This is the ideal time of year for having fresh oysters and when isn’t it perfect to dance, or ‘shag’ as we call it in the South?”

In addition to the oysters, chili, Brunswick stew and shagging, there will be a raffle for six prizes. For $5 a ticket or $20 for five, supporters get a chance to win one of two $500 shopping sprees at Collier’s Jewelers, a Century Arms C308 Rifle with scope donated by Murf’s Pawn, an Apple iPad donated by CopyPro, a Philips 32” ROKU TV donated by Brunswick Electric Membership Corp, and a $200 shopping spree at J. S. Mann’s.
